King Kong Arrives in Loughton

Saturday morning saw husband David and I wrestling with a giant gorilla on the Bradwell Road! We were attempting to put King Kong up into our ash tree, to advertise the forthcoming Scarecrow Trail. We secured him up there eventually, after having pruned our hedge quite dramatically, to allow access to the ash tree's ivy-clad trunk. Kong is not as visible as I'd hoped, as his torso tones in perfectly with the ivy that covers our ash tree. This serves to illustrate that having a good idea is not enough. A crow-builder needs to think about where her scarecrow will be displayed. However, I'm comforting myself with the thought that a more subtle and hard-to -spot along will be less distracting for drivers motoring along the Bradwell Road.
